Friday Thoughts October 14

Posted on Oct 14, 2016

Thank you for your generosity with our baby bottles project for the Women’s Center, and your support of the Sisters of St. Joseph Charity.  We collected many bottles of loose change this week, along with plenty of essentials such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, hats, gloves and more.  The vans are packed and headed out to LaGrange as we speak!

As you know, last summer, one of our water fountains was discovered to have a higher than allowable level of lead.  That fountain was turned off prior to the start of the school year.  We recently received an  action plan that includes either replacement of the outlet or installation of a water filtering system.  We have consulted with a plumber and hope to have that fountain back in service in a few weeks.

Today is the last day to turn in medical forms.  The state requires medical forms for all children in school by October 15th.  If you haven’t done so already, please drop off your medical forms today.

While cooler temperatures are here, most of our students are still going out for recess daily.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for playing outside.

There have been a few questions about our school uniform and appropriate attire on out of uniform days. Please refer to pages 11-12 of our handbook for details about the dress code.

We are now taking orders for the SJF “Uniform Approved” Fleece Pullover.   Click here for a printable order form.  We also have many other items available for you or your children to wear outside of school.  The online “Spirit Wear” store opened this week.  These items make terrific Christmas gifts.  Please click here and enter code number griffi8V3J or call or email Tricia Griffin with questions:   7082121173 or trixiegriff@aol.com.

Bows for Beau – all students are invited to wear bows of any kind and color (bow ties, hairbows, etc.), or a touch of gold or purple with their school uniform all week next week in support of Beau Dowling.  This initiative was the brainstorm of a group of our fourth grade girls.

St. Barnabas is hosting “Bottles, Bites and Brews” tomorrow evening.  If you are free, please support our neighboring parish at this event.  More details can be found here.

Next week, the Junior high will be going to a retreat at St. Rita on Tuesday.  The second graders will be going to the Shedd Aquarium. (It will be a quiet day here at school!)

Wednesday is High School Options Day for the co-ed schools.  Representatives will be here to speak with our 8th graders in the morning.

Have a wonderful weekend
