Happy First Week of Spring,

I hope today’s temperatures are an early indication of a beautiful Spring.  I detect a bit of Spring fever in the corridors today.

Thank you for the wonderful support you demonstrated at the Bake for Beau sale last weekend.   The church foyer was literally transformed and Beau made several guest appearances to thank all of our bakers and customers.   Your famous SJF generosity was, as always, very evident.

The weekend ahead is busy.  Many of our students are actors in the Munroe theater production of the Wizard of Oz which promises to be a great show.  This is also the weekend of our annual grandparent’s day masses.   Because of busy schedules, we are hosting two grandparent masses, one Saturday at the 4:00 Mass and the second on Sunday at the 10:00 Mass.  We hope each of our families will be able to come and salute these very important people in the lives of our students.   If grandparents are unable to come, you are welcome to bring a surrogate, someone who is very special to your child.

After the masses, the book fair will be open for browsing and shopping.   The “Happy Campers” theme highlights that reading is not only a subject in school, but is also about a great habit.  In addition to the weekend hours, each class will be able to shop at the book fair on Monday-Wednesday.   On Wednesday evening, all are invited to Family Night at the Fair.  Games, crafts, and other events will highlight the night.  Hope you will be able to come.

On Thursday, Ann Signorelli, a graduate SJF will talk to all of the students about the Robbins Project that is the focus of our Lenten “almsgiving”.   We have been working diligently to remind the kids that “a dime a day can make a difference” and have been trying to fill a giant jar with dimes (and other contributions) to help our neighbors who live just twenty minutes from here.  Ann spoke at all of the masses last weekend and told the story of the mission with a deep sharing of her own faith and her passion to make a difference in the lives of the clients who rely on the mission for basic necessities in life.   Thank you for your continued generosity not only during Lent, but in so many ways.  You are terrific role models for your kids.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for Breakfast with the Bunny on Sunday, April 2, after the 10:00 Mass.  Invitations were sent earlier this week.

Our parish weekend liturgies are enhanced with volunteers who serve as readers and/or Eucharistic ministers at each mass.    I would like to invite you to consider being part of this very important ministry in our parish.   You need not be a professional actor and it is not a lifetime commitment.   Actually, those who have been a reader at Mass often find their understanding of and appreciation for Scripture grows and deepens their faith and prayer.   Please give this invitation some thought.   If you would like to know more details, just let me know.

Please plan to attend one of Easter Sunday Masses.   This year we are inviting all of the children to be part of the opening procession and bring a small wrapped candy to put in a basket for children whose Easter baskets will probably not be as full as ours.   More details will follow.

Have a good weekend.    Hope to see you and grandparents over the weekend.
