Friday Thoughts September 22 2017

Dear Falcon Families,

Fisherfestitis, that rare malady that strikes on the Monday and Tuesday after the Fest was not epidemic this year.  Although some kids confessed to riding “The Edge” scores of times and there was great disappointment in the preschool when the preschoolers realized the rides were not staying in “Father Ken’s backyard”, there was unanimous agreement that we had a great weekend.   Perfect weather, well behaved crowds, the generous donation of hundreds of volunteer hours and a tireless committee combined to make Fisher Fest a grand event.  THANK YOU, first to the committee who pull it all together,  smile, and remain gracious hosts as hundreds of visitors pack the parking lot for four nights.   Thanks to all who purchased a raffle ticket, a mega bracelet, a meal, a beer… Your generosity and presence ensured a very successful fest.  Final results are not completely tabulated, but we are confident the Fest was a financial and social success.

Thanks also for your generosity in sending articles for the hurricane relief project alumnus Bryan Scheid conducted as part of his Senior Service Project.   As we watch pictures of the devastation caused by natural disasters in so many parts of the world, I think we are all trying to find something we can do to help.  You model a wonderful example to your children when you respond so generously. Thank you!

Looking ahead, be sure to check the hot lunch menu and calendar for October.  Directions for ordering online can be found on the school’s website.

The Holy Name Society will have its annual meet and greet next Thursday (September 28th) at the Rhino bar for the Bears Packers game (7:00 -10:00). Please come out and enjoy a good night with friends, neighbors and new HNS members. Please invite a friend or neighbor new to the organization.   They will start selling raffle tickets for their annual trip.  This year they will raffle a trip for four to Miami Beach in mid-November for the Notre Dame vs Miami college football game.  Please don’t hesitate to emailbrendan.winters1976@gmail.com with questions.

Next weekend we celebrate Homecoming with a pep rally in the gym on Friday and a Saturday afternoon of football at Beverly Park.  Saturday festivities begin with a parade from the parking lot to the park in which all are invited to participate.   Food and beverages are available at the park all afternoon.  The weekend is always great fun.  Hope you can come.

Have a good weekend.
