FSA

The goal of the Family School Association (FSA) is to foster a sense of community between the parents, students and faculty of St. John Fisher School. We are a service organization that provides opportunities to better know one another and enjoy our school experience. The FSA sponsors many events throughout the year.

Get involved in FSA this year! The association’s structure works best with team of committees and we need leadership to get those teams up and running every year.  Whether you would like to get involved in a small role (such as helping at one event, volunteering for a monthly activity…) or would like to use your talents to coordinate an entire event, we really need your help!

Other Ways to get involved with the FSA!

The Back to School Skating Party (August, first week of school)
Always the first Thursday of the school year from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  The parking lot is cleared of cars and the kids bring roller skates, blades or scooters to take some spins around the lot.  There is a DJ, and this is a fun way to get back into the swing of the school year!  Glow sticks and water are sold by the FSA.  We need parent volunteers on the night of the event to sell drinks, glow sticks, and monitor.
Fisherfest Kids’ Area (On Washtenaw) (Fisherfest Weekend)
Come help run a game or monitor some entertainment at Fisherfest! A welcome relief for families with little kids that are not yet big enough for all of the rides yet at Fisherfest.
Teacher Breakfast (monthly dates TBD)
Show your appreciation for your SJF Teachers.  Each month, room parents from a particular grade band together to bring breakfast treats to school.  We need a coordinator to make sure the room parents have a guideline for when to recruit items and help for the breakfast, and to coordinate clean up.
Christmas Crafts (December) 12 tables of crafting bliss!  Usually on the first Thursday of December, kids are invited to Kane Hall to make a variety of crafts.  Admission is $6 and includes a cookie, popcorn and a drink.  Help is needed to supervise each craft table.
Room Parents –
The FSA sends out a request for Room Parent volunteers in May and again in August.  A parent is assigned to each classroom to assist the teacher in whatever they may need. Volunteers will organize a monetary gift collection, teacher breakfast volunteers, and will assist with other classroom activities if the teacher asks. It’s a great way to get to know the other students and families in your child’s class.
Special Lunch – (monthly, 1st Wed)
Special lunch is held on the first Wednesday of each month (except September and June). Order forms are sent home with students in September and December.  Students order food from an outside restaurant for these days.  Parents are invited to come to Kane Hall between 10:00 and 12:00 to help. (Younger children may come to help as well).
Mother/Son Event (TBD)
A fun event for mothers and sons to get together.

Father/Daughter Dance (February/March)
What more to say, you know it's super cute! Usually in February, the dance is super fun - DJ, photographer, candy...volunteers are needed to help!
Easter Bunny Breakfast (April)
Games, treats, crafts and a picture with you know who! We need volunteers to help set up, take down, and help with the crafts and games at this event.
