With a vast and varied curriculum based
on the national standards, music
students at SJF will enjoy many
opportunities. From the preschooler’s
first rhythms to the junior high’s choir
concerts, SJF students strive to create
and learn so much more than just "Every
Good Boy Deserves Fudge". Within the
first few weeks, Kindergarteners already
knows how to read basic 4-beat rhythms;
by the end of 4th grade, SJF student
have mastered a fun and useful woodwind
instrument-- the recorder; 6th graders
can tell you where in the world to find
a digeridoo and how one composer (who
just happened to be deaf!) changed how
we listen to music.
We work hard in the SJF music room, but
we have fun with games like Rhythm Simon
Says and Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Soccer as well. We
have a variety of instruments available
in our classroom as well. For a full
tour and to understand more about what
we do in the music room, take a look at
Mrs. Vander Woude's blog!
