Notes from Mrs. Nash 10/11/19

Posted on Oct 15, 2019

Dear SJF Families, We are so grateful for the beautiful fall weather we have been experiencing. As we enter into this new season, at school we continue to grow, evolve and become more confident in our new roles this year: teachers, students and staff alike. I continue to be inspired and impressed by the hard work that our students and teachers continue to do each and every day. Mrs. Carey, Mrs. Larmon and I have begun reading one of Roy Petitfils’ book recommendations, The Gift of Failure: How the Best Parents Learn to Let Go So Their Children Can Succeed, by Jessica Lahey. Lahey’s book has opened my eyes and forced me to step back and re-evaluate not only the way I parent, but it has also broadened my perspective on my approach to education in general along with leading our school community. We are having much rich discussion around this book and hope to share and continue the conversation with all of you. Please consider reading The Gift of Failure to learn more! I hope you have a wonderful long weekend. Thank you for your continued support of Catholic education, but specifically St. John Fisher. In unity and hope, -Mrs. Maura Nash
