## The Week of November 28th - December 2nd

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the break!

Reminder: No School Friday, December 2nd due to our Faculty Inservice Day.

**8 ^{th} Grade:**

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we continue working with x- and y-intercepts, as well as slope. We will use slope intercept form (y = mx b) to write linear equations. We will finish the week graphing linear equations using the x-and y-intercepts. Our quiz on this unit is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 8th.

**7 ^{th} Grade:**

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we begin working with percent increase and decrease. We will also use the percent of change and original amount to find the new amount. We will finish the we learning about mark-up and discount and how each is calculated.

## The Week of November 14th - November 18th

Second semester begins today, November 14^{th}.

**8 ^{th} Grade:**

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we continue working with non-proportional relationships. We will create linear non-proportional relationships using tables, equations and graphs. Next, we learn how to determine slope using the y-intercept. On Friday, we will take a break from non-proportional relationships and review some geometry concepts including angles, area, and perimeter.

**7 ^{th} Grade:**

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we be our unit on Proportions and Percent. We will start by a review the relationship between fractions, decimals and percents. We spend the rest of the week working on percent increase and decrease. Students will have a quiz on converting fractions – decimals – percents on Friday, November 18^{th}.

## The Week of November 7th - November 11th

The Week of November 7th - November 11th

**Reminders:**

Tuesday, November 8^{th} is re-takes for students who missed picture day. Students who were absent on picture day are allowed to be out of uniform for the the day.

Friday, November 11^{th} is the end of the 1^{st} trimester.

**8 ^{th} Grade:**

This week we wrap up our unit on slope and proportional relationships. Students in Class Period 8 will take their unit quiz on Tuesday, November 8^{th}. Students in Class Periods 6 & 7 will take their unit quiz on Thursday, November 10^{th}. We will then begin our next unit on non-proportional relationships. We will make tables, write equations and draw graphs to model real-world non-proportional relationships.

**7 ^{th} Grade: **

This week we complete our unit on rates and proportionality. We will complete the unit by creating graphs to represent and analyze proportional relationships. Students will take their quiz on the unit on Thursday, November 10^{th}. On Friday, we will begin our next unit, percents.
