Welcome to Jr. High Math! My name is Cathy Browne and this is my 7th year at St. John Fisher. I am excited to be working with your child in 7th and 8th grade math. We are going to have a terrific year!

The Week of December 19th - December 23rd

8th Grade: 

Monday is Accelerated Math.  On Tuesday, we will take a practice test to help prepare for the upcoming high school entrance exams.  On Wednesday and Thursday, we will continue working with angles and triangles.


7th Grade:

Monday is Accelerated Math.  Tuesday is our unit test on percents. Check Google Classroom for extra practice problems.  On Wednesday and Thursday, we will translate algebraic equations and expressions.

The Week of December 12 - December 16th

Monday is our field trip to the Holocaust Museum.

8th Grade

We continue this week working with lines and angles. On Tuesday, we will work with lines cut by a transversal. Next, we will work with the measures of the angles of a triangle. We will finish the week working with similar angles.

7th Grade

On Tuesday we will work some more with simple interest. We will conclude the unit working with multi-step percent problems. We will finish the week reviewing for our unit test, which will take place on Tuesday, December 20th. Students will receive a study guide for the test and additional practice problems will be posted on our Google classroom.

The Week of December 5th - December 9th

8th Grade

On Monday, we will conclude our unit on non-proportional relationships.  Our test on this unit is Thursday, December 8th.  We will complete a study guide in class to help prepare for the test. Additional practice problems will also be posted on Google Classroom.  On Friday, we begin our geometry unit on lines and angles.


7th Grade

We continue working this week working on percents.  We will work with specific percent increase and decrease scenarios such as mark-up, discount and sales tax.  We will also learn how to calculate simple interest. We will finish the week working with situations that require applying more than one percent to a problem.  Our quiz on percent is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 15th.
