# Ms. Cathy Browne, Junior High Math

Welcome to Jr. High Math! My name is Cathy Browne and this is my 7th year at St. John Fisher. I am excited to be working with your child in 7th and 8th grade math. We are going to have a terrific year!

## November 26 - November 30

Posted on Nov 25, 2018

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoyed the break.

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we continue working with triangles. We will begin working with the Pythagorean Theorem and solve for the missing sides of right triangles.  We will also use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve problems in three dimensions. We will also use the Pythagorean Theorem to determine if a triangle is a right triangle.

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we will continue creating tables and graphing proportional relationships. We will also learn how to tell if a graph represents a proportional relationship. Next, we will review how to convert fractions to percents, decimals to percents, and percents to decimals. On Friday, we will have a quiz on creating tables and graphing proportional relationships.

## November 12 - November 16

Posted on Nov 12, 2018

Monday marks the start of the 2nd trimester. Report cards will be distributed Wednesday, November 14th

Monday is Accelerated Math.  On Tuesday, we will continue working with triangles and angles. We will use the various theorems we have learned to determine if two triangles are similar. Group 1 will have a quiz on angles created by a transversal on Thursday, November 15th.  Groups 2 & 3 will take their quiz on angels created by a transversal on Friday, November 16th.

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we continue working with the constant of proportionality. We will write equations to represent proportional relationships.  Next, we will represent proportional relations using graphs.  We will also spend some time this week reviewing ordered pairs on the coordinate plane.

## November 5 - November 9

Posted on Nov 06, 2018

We continue this week working with angles and triangles. We will solve for the missing angles of interior and exterior angles of a triangle using the Exterior Angle Theorem.  Next, we will learn how to determine if two triangles are similar. We will also review solving for proportions this week to help with our work with triangles.  Our solving one and two-step equations quiz has been rescheduled for this Wednesday, November 7th

We continue this week working with rates and proportionality. We will learn how to identify and represent proportional relationships? A proportional relationship will have a rate of change that is constant between any two quantities. We will show proportional relationships using tables, graphs and equations. We will have a quiz on ratios, rates and unit rates on Friday, November 9th
