Welcome to Jr. High Math! My name is Cathy Browne and this is my 7th year at St. John Fisher. I am excited to be working with your child in 7th and 8th grade math. We are going to have a terrific year!

8th Grade

This week we will work on creating and interpreting scatter plots.  We will learn to describe patterns such as clustering, outliers, and positive or negative association. Tuesday we will have Accelerated Math. Students will also spend time this week working on their Flipgrid project related to the Stock Market Game.

7th Grade:

This week we will work on using random samples and populations to solve problems. Students will use a number of innovative ways to represent a sample from a population. Tuesday we will have Accelerated Math. Students will also spend time this week working on their Flipgrid project related to the Stock Market Game.

REMINDERS

**Tuesday, April 9th is the Student Art Show in Kane Hall – 5:30 – 7:30pm

**Wednesday, April 10th is Progress Check.

**Our all school Easter Liturgy is Friday, April 12th at 1pm.

 EASTER BREAK BEGINS FRIDAY- STUDENTS RETURN THURSDAY, APRIL 25th

8th Grade

Monday is Accelerated Math. On Tuesday, we will conclude our unit on Transformations.  Our unit test will be Thursday, April 11th.  We will complete a study guide in class.

7th Grade:

Aspire Testing will take place Tuesday, April 2nd – Friday, April 5th

8th Grade:

We will continue working on transformations this week. We will learn how to represent translations, reflections, and rotations using algebraic equations.

7th Grade:

We will continue working with circles this week.  We will learn the formula to calculate the area of a circle. Next, we will calculate the area of composite figures that include circles.
