Posted on Mar 13, 2017

Hello!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend!

In Reading last week, we focused on and reviewed our skills from Unit 3. Some of our skills that we reviewed and focused on from last week were: main idea and supporting details, generalizing, context clues, predicting, drawing conclusions, word study and research/study skills. We worked on, practiced and discussed these skills as well as focused our word and study skills. Last week, we also took our Unit 3 Skills test. We also worked with Raz Kids for Reading Comprehension practice.

In Reading this week, we will finish up our focus on Unit 3 by focusing on and reviewing some of our skills. Our skills that we will be continuing to focus on and review this week are: evaluating information, drawing conclusions, analyzing information, context clues, analyzing an article, word study (consonant sounds), and research/study skills. We will be learning about strategies for these skills and working with examples that focus on them. We will also be working with 2 nonfiction paired articles that focus on winter health and safety for close reading. We will use these articles to practice our analyzing, reading comprehension and close reading skills. This week, we will be working with the Vocabulary words for these 2 articles as well as focusing on some close reading questions about them. We will also be working on how we can find our evidence for our answers to the article questions as well as locating our evidence for our articles that focus on winter health and safety. This week, we will also be working with Raz Kids for Reading Comprehension practice on the ipads as well. We will also be working on practicing with SLAM this week.
