Week of May 20th - 24th

In Reading class this week, we will continue with and finish up our focus and discussion of the second half of our novel (Chapters 8-14) called: The Lemonade War. For our novel this week, we will work on, discuss and review our worksheets and activities related to the second half of the chapters of our novel. We will also work on a Book of Knowledge activity, as well as work on our May Book Report activity in class this week. Our Book of Knowledge activity will focus on the planets and the Solar System. For our novel, we will be reading and discussing Chapters 8-14, as well as working on our student packet worksheets and activities related to these chapters. *Students will have a test on Chapters 8-14 this week on Thursday, May 23rd.* Students should study their Student Packets, worksheets, activity sheets as well as their vocabulary list in preparation for the Reading test on Thursday of this week.

*2 more ARs (for 6 ARs in total) were due by Friday, May 3rd.*

**2 more ARs (for 8 in total including at least 1 NF book) will be due by this upcoming Friday, May 24th.**

*Students may choose any kind of book to read and focus on for the May Book Report. Students should have their book report book read & brought with them to class by this upcoming Monday, May 20th. We will work on our May Book Report activity in class this week.*

In Social Studies this week, we will continue to focus on the Southwest Region of the United States. We will be practicing with our state and capital flashcards this week. We will also be reviewing for a test on Tuesday of this week. *Students will have a test on the states and capitals of the Southwest Region this upcoming Tuesday, May 21st.* Students should study their state and capital flashcards, notes, capital clues, and study guide maps in preparation for the test on Tuesday of this week. Students should also be able to spell the states and capitals of the Southwest Region correctly without the use of any word bank at all for the test on Tuesday. *This week, we will also begin working on a mini Region Project. Students will choose and then be assigned one of the regions of the United States to focus on for their mini project. Also, students will be researching some interesting facts about their assigned region as well as working on filling out an informational sheet about their region in class this week as well. *The mini Region Project will be due by this upcoming Friday, May 24th.*

In Spelling this week, we will be focusing on our next unit: Unit 34*We will have our test on Unit 34 on Friday, May 24th.*
