We hope each of your families had a wonderful President’s Day weekend! We sure had a lovely week in Preschool celebrating Valentine’s Day and all our sweet friends! Some highlights from Valentine’s Day include decorating Valentine goody bags, playing “mailman” and passing out Valentine’s to each of our friends and playing some fun games, like pass the heart and musical chairs. We also played a game where each child predicted how many heart gems they could hold in one grab. They then got a chance to try it out and count how many they actually grabbed! We also had a great time with our fourth grade prayer partners who came over to help us sort, count and graph (and okay, maybe eat! :-)) candy hearts. On Monday, we went on a hunt for candy hugs and kisses that each had a number 1-10 on them. The Preschools received a bag and had to go on the hunt for a complete set of numbers 1-10. Once they thought their set was complete, they checked to make sure by placing them in a row in order from 1-10! On Tuesday, we all made an adorable Hershey kiss craft. On Friday, we practiced math and were introduced to the concept of measuring by measuring some Valentine’s themed items with heart rulers. We loved reading all sorts of Valentine’s themed books this week and especially enjoyed being read to on Friday by Mrs. Schneller, our awesome class room mom who stopped by with a very special Valentine’s day treat for the Preschoolers. Thank you so much Mrs. Schneller!
We all were SO excited to welcome a new friend to our classroom this week, Nia! The Preschoolers honestly could not have been sweeter and immediately stepped up to be loving and helpful friends to Nia. It truly melted our hearts to watch them all go out of their way to be so kind to our new friend – you would be so very proud of your child (we sure were!!!) We are so happy to welcome adorable Nia and her family to our SJF family – we are so glad you are here!!
We learned all about letter “Oo” this week. We learned that Oo makes two sounds – such as in overalls and octopus. We want to remember the short o sound as in octopus. We practiced how to print the upper and lower case letter and the Preschoolers identified tons and tons of new words that begin with Oo.
Just a reminder that you can follow along with all our fun and see pictures of our class in action on Instagram by following us @ourfuntimein109. Next Thursday (02/27) is also an early dismissal day, with dismissal at 1:45p.m.
As always, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful week!
