Ms. Katie Fadden, Preschool

Welcome to St. John Fisher Preschool! My name is Katie Fadden and I couldn't be more excited to be your child's teacher this year. This is my ninth year teaching Preschool at St. John Fisher and I truly love teaching this age group - Preschool is the best! Prior to teaching, I attended St. Germaine School, Mother McAuley High School and Saint Mary's of Notre Dame where I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and minors in Reading and Early Childhood Education. I have one older brother, Dan, who is a Northwestern University alumni - we love to tailgate at home football games in the fall! Spending time with my family is my favorite thing to do. I am so very blessed to work with the absolutely incredible Mrs. Beth Furlong each day. She is a mom to 5 amazing children (2 in high school, 1 in college and 2 recent college grads), a former Speech Pathologist and a Fisher Falcon alum, too! Together we really look forward to a wonderful year of learning, laughter, friendships and fun with your child in Preschool!

Dear Parents,

We are definitely fa-la-la-ing and decking the halls in Room 109 as we prepare for Christmas! This week the boys and girls were hard at work painting and cutting out large ornaments for our windows and designing their own wrapping paper for presents that have their pictures as the gift inside! They also painted a large Christmas tree that we will cut out and decorate next week and worked hard on a very special surprise gift for mom and dad for Christmas that they are really excited about! The Preschoolers were thrilled that Santa sent an Elf to our room to watch us each day – our class voted and named him Sparkle! Sparkle has been having lots of fun finding new spots to hide in each day and even left us a pile of presents – Christmas themed wrapped books that we get to open and read each day! Additionally, the boys and girls have been very hard at work learning all the words and actions to our Christmas program songs and poems. Hopefully you have been hearing many of them at home already as they practice! :-) Hearing them practice these special songs and poems each day are the highlight of our days for sure!

We learned all about letter Jj this week. We learned the special sound it makes and identified numerous words that begin with Jj. The preschoolers practiced how to write the upper and lowercase letter and listened to clues to guess items that begin with Jj.

In religion, we learned about the season of Advent and how this is a very special time for our Church. Our fourth grade buddies came by to help us make our Advent Countdown patterned chains. Remember to take off the bottom link each night before bedtime and count how many days until Jesus’ birthday! We have been learning all about Jesus’ birth and the special people who were there.

Avery was our super special Star of the Week! We learned all about Avery as she shared her awesome poster with the class and answered some questions from her classmates. The Preschoolers made a special book to show Avery all the many ways she is so incredible! Hooray for Avery – you are so very special to us!!! :-)

Just some reminders…

- Next Wednesday (Dec. 18th) is our Christmas Program at 12:00p.m. in the Church. Preschoolers do not have regular class hours on this day but instead should arrive to our rooms via their normal entrance doors at 11:40 a.m. dressed in their Christmas best! This performance is always a highlight of the Christmas season – we are very excited!

- If you are interested in ordering Scholastic books for your child or for Christmas gifts, please send in your order tomorrow or Tuesday at the latest to ensure Christmas delivery. You can also order online at using our class code JT8JQ. Please send me a note or email if your order is a gift so I can make sure to get it to you and maintain the surprise! Thank you so much for your support of this program!

As always, please feel free to email me at with any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful, merry week!
