Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my eleventh year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Language Arts-We have completed our unit on verbs, and we will have our test on Wednesday.  Reviews were assigned and are due on Tuesday.  Final copies of Christmas Around the World papers are due on Wednesday.

Science-We are finishing our study of the circulatory system, and we will have a quiz on Thursday.  On Tuesday we will be making our own models of blood.  The students have worked with their groups to plan out their models.  All students need to bring a water bottle and whatever supplies they planned for with their group.  The students have really enjoyed learning about what makes up our blood and are looking forward to creating their models!

Our Trip to the Museum of Science and Industry

We had a wonderful time at the Museum of Science and Industry.  The students loved checking out all of the Christmas trees and all of the other cool exhibits the museum has.  Thanks to all of our parent chaperones, who were such a great help.   Here are some pictures from our trip!

Week of December 4th

Posted on Dec 04, 2017

I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  I can't believe that it is December already!  The year is flying by!

Language Arts-This week we are continuing our study of verbs.  We will be working with irregular verbs.  Final copies of last week's prompt writing are due on Wednesday.  Our next writing assignment will be a report on the country and traditions we researched for our "Christmas Around the World" project.

Science-This week we will finish up our study of the digestive system.  We will have a quiz on Thursday.  The next system we will be studying is the circulatory system.

Spelling-We are on Unit 15 this week, and our test will be on Friday.

**Reminders- Wednesday is our all-school trip to see "Wonder".  Students should wear gym uniforms, since it is supposed to be cold.  Wednesday is also special lunch.  We will be eating a later lunch than usual due to the movie, so the students may bring a small snack to school that day.  On Thursday the 4th graders will be hosting our all-school mass to celebrate the feast of the Immaculate Conception.  All are welcome to join us at mass at 1:00.
