Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my eleventh year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Bring An Idiom To School

Posted on Apr 25, 2018

The students have really enjoyed learning about different types of figurative language.  On Thursday, students brought an idiom to school.  We had a great time trying to figure out the idioms and their meanings!

I hope everyone enjoyed the nice weather this weekend!  Last week was very busy, but we should be getting back to our normal schedule this week!

Science-We finish up our study of electricity this week, and we will start studying our next form of energy, sound.  Circuit posters are due on Tuesday, and we have an electricity quiz on Thursday.

Spelling-We are on Unit 31 this week, and our test will be on Friday.

Have a wonderful week!

Week of April 16th

Posted on Apr 16, 2018

Even though the weather wasn't the best, I hope everyone had a nice weekend.  This week will be a very busy one for us!  Aspire Testing begins tomorrow.  Please be sure to bring in four or five sharpened #2 pencils for testing this week.  In class we have discussed the importance of taking the tests seriously, following directions, and trying our best!  We also have some special activities this week!  We will attend the band concert, a presentation from Marist High School students, and the SJF production of Mary Poppins!  We will continue working in all our subject areas throughout the week as well, but we will have shortened schedules.

Language Arts- We will continue our study of figurative language.  On Thursday, students will be "bringing an idiom to school."  Students will present their idioms on Thursday, so all materials need to be here and ready that day.  We will have a figurative language test next Friday.

Science-We will continue our study of electricity.

Spelling-We will not have a test on Friday, but we will be working on review unit 29 throughout this week.

Have a great week!
