Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my eleventh year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Week of December 16th

Posted on Dec 16, 2019

I can't believe this our last week of school before Christmas!  We have an extremely busy and fun-filled week ahead of us!

Language Arts-We will be finishing up our Christmas Around the World reports.  Final copies are due on Thursday.  On Thursday we will have a quiz on what we have covered so far in our verb unit (verb tenses, action verbs, helping verbs and main verbs).

Science-We will finish our study of the nervous system this week.  We will move on to study the digestive system next!

Spelling-We are on Unit 16 this week, and we will have a test on Friday.

This week we also have some fun events that will certainly get us into the Christmas spirit!

-On Monday we will enjoy a performance by the McAuley Acapella Choir.

- We will  get to see the kindergarten Christmas play on Thursday.

-On Friday students should dress in their Sunday best.  Students will enjoy their milk and cookies in the morning, and then we will attend our all-school prayer service.

*Christmas break would be a good time to replenish any school supplies that may have run out or been lost.

I want to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!  I hope everyone enjoys some rest and relaxation and makes some terrific new memories with family and friends!

Excitement is filling the air, as the countdown to Christmas begins!  I hope everyone had a great weekend, and I'm sure the students enjoyed their Friday off!

Science-We will be learning all about the nervous system this week!

Spelling-We are on Unit 15, and our test will be on Friday.

*Our field trip to the Museum of Science and Industry is Tuesday.  As a reminder, students need to bring a brown-bag lunch and wear their gym uniforms. Parents who are chaperoning should be at the office by 8:30.  Thank you!

**Get your festive gear ready for Friday! Students can be out of uniform in their favorite ugly Christmas sweater or Christmas attire with a donation for the Chicago Ridge PADS shelter.  We will also be having an all-school Christmas sing-along in the afternoon!
