Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Spelling. This is my fourteenth year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

I hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend!  Here is some information about this week in ELA and Science.

ELA-We have finished our first grammar unit, and we have a test on Thursday.  We worked on review sheets in class and will also go over the answers together in class.  The review sheet is a helpful study tool, as it is set-up like the test.  We will also be working on a writing piece about the qualties of a good friend to accompany our mentor text for this week.

Science-We have completed our unit on plants, and we have a test on Wednesday.  We will then move on to study the animal kingdom and animal adaptations.

Have a wonderful week!

Week of October 5th

Posted on Oct 05, 2020

I hope everyone had a nice weekend!  I am so excited to be back in the classroom with everyone on Wednesday.  Here is some information about this week in ELA and Science.

ELA-We will finish up learning about the four types of sentences this week.  We will have a quiz on Wednesday on the different types of sentences.  Since we are wrapping up our first unit in grammar, it is time for a unit test.  Our Unit 1 Grammar test will be next Thursday, October 15th.   The test will cover subjects and predicates and the different types of sentences.  A review sheet that is set-up very similar to the test will be assigned and corrected in class next week and can then be used as a study guide.

Science-We are also finishing up our unit on plants this week.  We have learned all about the functions of different parts of plants and how plants in different environments adapt to survive in their conditions.  We will have our Plants test next Wednesday, October 14th.  A review sheet will be assigned and corrected in class this week and can then be used as a study guide for the test.
