Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my thirteenth year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Week of December 14th

Posted on Dec 14, 2020

I hope you all had a nice weekend!  We have made it to our last full week of school before Christmas!

Here is some information about English and Science this week.

English-We have completed our unit on verbs.  We have a test this Thursday, the 17th.  We will also be incorporating Christmas as we learn about some different types of figurative language this week.  We will also work on the final copies of our "Home For the Holidays" Christmas tradition papers.  Covers, final copies, and snapshots page are all due this Thursday, the 17th.

Science-We will finish up the study of our first system of the human body: the nervous system.  We have really enjoyed learning all about the brain and how it works.  We will have an open notebook quiz on the nervous system on Wednesday. If anyone needs a copy of any of the notes for this system, they can be found in our Science Google Classroom.

Have a great week!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend!  I can't believe we are counting down to Christmas!

Here is some information for this week in English and Science.

English-This week we will be learning about helping verbs and irregular verbs.  We will soon finish up our verb unit, so we will have a test on Thursday, December 17th.  In Writing this week, we will continue working on our "Home For The Holidays" paper.  The kids really seem to be enjoying reflecting on the Christmas traditions that mean a lot to them.

Science-We will have an open-notebook quiz on Tuesday.  All of the notes for cells are also posted in our Science Google Classroom in case anyone was absent or needs to make sure they have what they need.  We will then move along to study our first human body system, the nervous system.

Reminders:

-Friday, December 11th: Ugly Christmas Sweater/Holiday Out of Uniform Day with a donation for Pro Labore Dei.

Have a great week!
