Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my eleventh year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Our unit 10 vocabulary quiz will be next Tuesday, March 3rd. We will begin our Women's History Month writing assignment this week as well. The students will research and then begin rough drafts.  They will also be creating a Google slide in computer class, which will be used in a presentation to the class.

Week of February 10th

Posted on Feb 10, 2020

I hope everyone had a nice weekend!  I can't believe that we will be celebrating Valentine's Day this week!  The year is certainly flying by.  Students can bring in a wrapped treat and/or valentines on Friday if they would like.  We have 19 students in Room 212.

Language Arts-We have finished our adjective unit, and our test will be on Thursday.  We will also be working on the final copies of our Presidents’ Day opinion pieces. Final copies are due on Friday.  The students are doing a wonderful job on these opinion pieces.  They are so passionate about the side they took!  It is great to see them so engaged in their writing.

Science-We have completed our study of the human body.  Our test will be on Wednesday.  Please study the review sheet that was sent home. We will be making our human body shirts on Tuesday.  This is a favorite fourth grade activity!  The kids love wearing them for the rest of the school to see, and they are ready to share their knowledge with anyone who asks! The students will keep them at school to wear for the remainder of the week, and then they can bring them home on Friday.   Remember not to wash it if Crayola washable markers were used :)  I will post pictures of the students in their shirts later this week!

Spelling-We are on Unit 22 this week, and our test will be on Friday.

Remember, in honor of Presidents’ Day there is no school next Monday, the 17th.

Have a terrific week!
