Information for Friday’s Zoom Activity:  *I will be emailing these directions and the Zoom meeting information to parents. Of course this is not mandatory, as I know that everyone's schedules are different, but if the kids are available I'd love to have them join!  Each 4th grade class will have their own Zoom meeting time.  If you aren’t able to make the Zoom but want to share your idiom, you can post it to Seesaw!  I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

**We are going to learn about figurative language in a FUN WAY! This week in Language Arts, we are learning about idioms!  Remember that an idiom is an expression that means something other than the literal meaning. There are examples of idioms all around us!

So as a special activity, we are going to bring an idiom to “school”!

-Select an item from home (or create one) that represents an idiom and bring it to “school” (a Zoom meeting) with you this Friday, May 1st.

Be sure to keep your idiom under wraps and don’t spill the beans!  We want to keep your classmates on the edge of their seats as they throw their hats into the ring and take a guess as to which idiom your item(s) from home represents.

Your item should represent your idiom’s literal meaning, but be prepared to explain your idiom’s figurative meaning to the class.

You can grab common household items or draw pictures to represent the objects in your idioms. A couple of helpful websites are: www.idioms.in/kids  and   www.idiomsbykids.com.

Here are some examples:

*All Eyes On Me: make eyes and stick them on yourself

*Once in a Blue Moon: cut out of several white moons and one blue moon

*All Ears: draw a small face with large ears on a piece of paper

Vocabulary-Complete pages 134 and 135 in your Vocabulary book.  You can log-in to Google Classroom and look under the “Check Your Work” section to see a video and check your answers.
