Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my thirteenth year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Week 10 Information-Last Week of E-learning!

Posted on May 25, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice weekend!  We have reached our last week of e-learning! As Mrs. Nash said in her email last week, our last official day of e-learning is Tuesday and the rest of the week, Wednesday-Friday, will be catch-up days.

I have updated grades in Powerschool (for all assignments through last week) so that you can see what, if any, assignments are still missing. I know keeping track of all of the assignments can be difficult, and depending on how assignments were turned-in on a Google Classroom, there may be some things marked missing even though they were completed, so I think Powerschool will be the easiest place to see if any assignments have not been turned in.

I know that this has not been an easy process, and that it can be difficult to keep track of all these assignments and the work for the different subjects, so I am happy to help in any way that I can to make sure everyone has completed what they need to.

Finally, I want to say again how proud I am of all of the work the kids have done throughout this process, and how thankful I am to all of you for all of your help and support!

Please let me know if you have any questions, or if I can help you or the kids in any way!  Have a great week!

Last Week of E-Learning May 26th-May 29th

Week 9 Assignments and Information May 18th-May 22nd

Posted on May 17, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice weekend!  I can't believe that I am posting assignments for Week 9 of learning from home.  I am so proud of all of the work the kids are doing, and I am so thankful for all of your help and support!

I know keeping track of all of the assignments can be difficult, and depending on how assignments were turned-in on Google Classroom, there may be some things marked missing even though they were completed.  Please know that I am reviewing and keeping track of all of the work turned in on Google Classroom, and I will then post the assignments in Powerschool. I think that will be the easiest place to see if any assignments have not been turned in. I will be adding last week’s assignments to Powerschool this week, so please check-in on there to see an update of any missing assignments.

Please let me know if you have any questions about anything, or if I can help in any way!  Enjoy your week!

At the end, you will have your very own memory book to keep!

(The number 21 represents a 21 gun salute) This is repeated until the soldier is relieved of duty. Each Guard is on duty for 30 minutes during the summer (April 1-September 30) and one hour during the winter (October 1-March 31). When Arlington Cemetery is closed the guards change every two hours. Posted on May 10, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a nice weekend!  Happy Mother’s Day to all of our wonderful mothers!  I hope you all had a terrific day!

I will be adding last week’s assignments to Powerschool this week, so please check-in on there to see an update of any missing assignments. I think that will be the easiest place to see if any assignments have not been turned in.  Please let me know if you have any questions about anything.

It was nice to see so many of the kids on Zoom last week!  I am looking forward to Zooming with everyone again this Tuesday!  I know Zooms are not for everyone, I for one do not always feel super comfortable on them either, but please know that I don’t want the kids to feel pressured or nervous about them.  I really just want to give the kids an opportunity to see each other and share some of their work.  I know there are technical difficulties sometimes, or no sound, or frozen screens, but seeing the kids always brings a smile to my face!

Finally, thank you for all of the messages, pictures, and video messages for Teacher Appreciation Week.  It was so sweet of you, and they all brought a smile to my face and made my week!

Virtual Field Trip- Every president since John Adams has occupied the White House, and the history of this building extends far beyond the construction of its walls.
