Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Science. This is my thirteenth year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Week of March 1st

Posted on Mar 01, 2021

I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend! I can't believe that it is March!  The second trimester ends next Wednesday, March 10th.  For as crazy as this year has been, the school year is flying by!  I can't believe that we will be starting our third trimester soon!

*Reminders:

-We will be making our human body t-shirts this week.  Each student needs to bring in a plain white t-shirt by this Thursday.  Students will need to make sure they have markers for this project as well.   Students can bring in their shirts early if they'd like.  We will store them in their lockers until we make them. The t-shirt should not be too large or else the organs will end up in the wrong places.  We will be using Crayola markers to make the shirts, so please do not put the t-shirt in the washer or the marker will run.  Thanks so much for your help with this project!  It is always a favorite activity for 4th graders each year, and I know the kids are really looking forward to making their t-shirts and showing them off!

Here is some information for this week in English and Science:

English-We have finished our unit on adverbs, and our test will be this Wednesday, the 3rd.  The students did a great job on their President's Day opinion writing pieces.  They definitely liked choosing their sides and trying to prove their points!  We then began writing our Preposition Poems.  We will type them this week on our Chromebooks!  Our next writing project will center around Women's History Month.  We will begin doing some research this week.

Science-We are finishing up our study of the human body.  We have learned so much about the different systems of the body.  Our test will be this Thursday, the 4th.

Have a terrific week!
