Mrs. Laura Kovatch, Fourth Grade

Hi! My name is Laura Kovatch and I teach fourth grade Language Arts and Spelling. This is my fourteenth year here at St. John Fisher, and I feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful school community. Outside of school, I love to travel and spend time with my family, especially my beautiful daughter Katelyn. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year together!

Week of May 24th

Posted on May 24, 2021

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend!  I can't believe that we are down to our last few weeks of school!  Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help build and launch our rockets!  I wish we could use everyone, but remember that everyone is welcome to come to the park and watch the launch!  I plan to start the launch at 9:30 AM at Beverly Park on Monday, June 7th.  June 8th will be our backup day in case of rain.

Here is some information for English and Science this week:

English-We have completed our last unit, so we will now review everything we've learned this year.  The kids are also working on a writing assignment based on our mentor text from last week, "The Day You Begin."  Final copies are due on Wednesday.  We will then begin our next writing assignment based on this week's mentor text, "If I Built a School."  I think the kids are going to have a great time using their creativity and imagination to write about how they would design their dream school.

Science-We are continuing our journey through the solar system.  We will finish up the inner planets this week and will then journey to the outer planets! The kids are really having a fun time learning about all of the unique characteristics of each planet!

Have a great week!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend!  I can't believe we are down to our last four weeks of school! Parent volunteer forms for rocket building and launching went home last week, so if you would like to volunteer to help either day please return the form to school by Tuesday.  We are limited to the number of helpers we can have, so please know that if you are not chosen to help, everyone is welcome to still come to Beverly Park and watch the launch.

Here is some information for English and Science this week:

English-We have completed our unit on Pronouns.  Our test is on Tuesday.  Students have a review sheet that will be helpful for practice and studying.

Science-We are finishing our last type of energy, electricity.  We will then move on to learn about all of the planets in our solar system.

Have a terrific week!
