7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of April 6th

Posted on Apr 05, 2020

Continue to take deep breaths...We can do this together!  We're now moving into our fourth week of e-learning and most students are doing a great job with attaining and completing their assignments through Google Classroom.  Unfortunately, there are some students that are not completing assignments in a timely manner, and as stated last week, grades may be lowered on assignments that are turned in after the due date. It's imperative that ALL students continue to sign in each day to verify that they have satisfied their E-learning attendance requirement. Students are to sign in on  Ms. Browne's Google classroom for their attendance. This week, we will continue on with our block schedule. Please know that the Jr. High teachers are available through email and/or live streaming throughout the school week. If students or parents have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

I will also be hosting a live session for students/parents if they have any questions or concerns. These sessions are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 PM-1:30 PM.  The link for these meetings will be posted to my Google classroom on Tuesday and Thursday morning.

As we celebrate Holy Week, I wish you and your family a blessed Easter.  After many hours of prayer and reflection, I can say that this tragic event taking place in our world has made me desire and appreciate the simplest things in life; hugging family members, sharing meals, dropping by friends' houses and countless other things. May we all continue to pray this Easter Season for all of those people affected by the Corona virus.  Please offer prayers and thanks for all of our HEROES, the people who continue to care for the sick, the poor, and the lonely during this very tragic epidemic.

Please note that during our spring break, April 10th - April 19th, no assignments will be posted for students.  This would be a great time for students to complete service that would be helpful and inspiring.

****7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be celebrating Holy Week through e-learning assignments. We will be taking a break from our World Religions curriculum and will be focusing on Holy Week. On Tuesday, students will be viewing a video of the 14 stations of the cross. This video discusses each of the stations and the emotions Jesus was feeling. Students will then  be asked to reflect on each station and think about a time in their life when they felt the feelings that Jesus experienced as he completed the journey to his destination; a journey beginning with being condemned to death and ending with being laid in a tomb. This assignment will help students connect with the humanity of Jesus, and allow them to relate to the feelings Jesus experienced.

Thursday, students are scheduled to have a half-day before beginning our Easter break. *** On Thursday, students will only be responsible for completing a religion assignment that will highlight the solemnity and significance of the Triduum. This assignment will be posted to my Religion Google classroom Thursday morning.  This assignment is to be completed Thursday.

***Service***

All students should continue to satisfy their FIVE hours of required service. Now that we have been asked to stay close to home, there are even more opportunities for us to help out around the house. Continue to record your service while at home. I will collect service hours through a Google form near the end of the third trimester.
