Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many of the parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters.

This year will be my 20th year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past ten years, watching our students grow both academically and spiritually.

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year with our Jr. High students and can't wait to see them on their first day of school, Wednesday, August 21st.

7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of February 27th

Posted on Feb 26, 2017

On Wednesday of this week, Ash Wednesday, we will be celebrating the beginning of Lent with mass at 10:00.

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be discussing the season of Lent as a season in which we prepare our hearts by praying, fasting, and giving alms.  We will also be starting our unit on Hinduism, discussing its origin, practices, and beliefs.

***All students should be working on their FIVE hours of required service for this third trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be discussing the season of Lent as a season in which we prepare our hearts by praying, fasting, and giving alms. We will also be finishing chapter 6 in our Morality book and will be taking the test on Friday of this week. On Thursday, will be starting our eighth grade tradition of celebrating mass in the classroom with the first of the three 8th grade groups.  Father Ken is welcomed into our classroom and we will celebrate mass with the readings, intercessions, and songs that the students so carefully prepare for this very special mass.

***All students should be working on their EIGHT hours of required service for this third trimester.
