7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of January 11th

Posted on Jan 10, 2021

This week will be our second week of remote learning.  As the Jr. High teachers are committed to providing quality education during remote learning, please assist us by having a discussion with your son/daughter that they attend their scheduled Google Meets on time and that they follow all remote guidelines.

***On Wednesday, students are required to sign on for attendance at 8:00 AM and then sign on to their Wednesday special's Google classroom, Art, at the designated time listed on the schedule below.  Students are to then click on the Google Meet link for live instruction from their special's teacher. On Wednesday, other than attending the Google Meet session for their special, students are to also work on assignments and their I-Ready requirements.

Every other day of the virtual school week, students are  to sign in for attendance at 8:00 AM and then attend each of their classes by clicking on the Google Meet link for each class at the designated time period. Students are to follow SJF's e-learning guidelines that both students and parents agreed to in prior correspondence.

***In the event that a student is unable to attend one or all of their virtual classes, parents will be asked to email the teacher of that class to verify the reason son/daughter's absence from that class or classes.

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will begin covering chapter 8 in our Blest Are We book, "A Prayer for the Kingdom."  This chapter discusses the Lord's prayer, a prayer that is shared by all Christians. It is a prayer that is a summary of the Gospel and includes petitions that ask God to give us what we need to make the Kingdom of God a reality here on Earth.  We will also be discussing the Beatitudes which were professed by Jesus during his Sermon on the Mount.  This week the students will be asked to compose Eight Beatitudes of a 7th Grader as well as write their own version of The Lord's Prayer using their own words.

***All students should continue to satisfy the requirement of completing FIVE hours of service for this second trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week, we will continue on with our preparation for celebrating the sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday, January 24th.  The Google slide project of their saint whose name they chose for their Confirmation name, is due this Thursday.  We will discuss the Holy Spirit's role in Confirmation and in our daily lives.  We will also be discussing the importance of receiving the Eucharist and how we are reminded to remember Jesus' sacrifice for us each time we receive the Eucharist.

***All students should continue to satisfy the requirement of completing EIGHT hours of service for this second trimester.
