Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am looking forward to a unique and successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters, a son-in-law, and a new grandson, Martin McGrath Guinane.

This year will be my 21st year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past eleven years, watching my students grow both academically and spiritually.

7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of January 19th

Posted on Jan 18, 2021

We welcome our students back from Christmas break followed by two weeks of remote learning. This week will be an exciting week for our 8th graders as they conclude their preparation for celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation.  Confirmation will take place on Sunday, January 24th.  Further instructions regarding the details of the Confirmation celebration will be sent home this week.

***Please make sure ALL Confirmation forms and fees are returned back to school by WEDNESDAY.

***7th Grade Religion***

This week we will finish covering the material in chapter 8. We will conclude our discussion of the meaning of the Eight Beatitudes and the seven verses of the Lord's Prayer.

***All students should continue to satisfy their FIVE hours of required service for this second trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week we will be finishing our preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The students have taken part in many discussions of the elements  and significance of the Sacrament of Confirmation, worked on various assignments, written an essay about their confirmation sponsor and completed a slide presentation on the saint who they will be honoring as they take that saint's name for their Confirmation name. They are ready!

Students will be taking a test on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Cardinal Virtues on Wednesday of this week.

***All students should continue to satisfy their EIGHT hours of required service for this second trimester.
