Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year with your child. 

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many of the parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters. 

This year will be my 20th year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past ten years, watching our students grow both academically and spiritually.

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year with our Jr. High students and can't wait to see them on their first day of school, Wednesday, August 21st.

7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of March 4th

On Monday, Mr. Jim McKeever will be visiting our eighth graders to discuss the Kevin Dowling Scholarship and the requirements and process for applying for this scholarship. 

All students may be out of uniform on Tuesday, "Fat Tuesday," and are welcome to come to the gym at their assigned time for dancing and fun!

We will be celebrating the beginning of the Lenten season this Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, with an all school mass at 10:00AM.  All are welcome!

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be discussing the season of Lent as a season in which we prepare our hearts by praying, fasting, and giving alms.  We will also be finishing our unit on Buddhism and will be taking the test on Buddhism this Thursday.

***All students should be working on their FIVE hours of required service for this third trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be discussing the season of Lent as a season in which we prepare our hearts by praying, fasting, and giving alms. We will also be finishing chapter 8, which discusses the Catholic church's teachings on topics such as abortion, capital punishment, euthanasia, and suicide,  We will be taking the chapter 8 test on Friday of this week.

***All students should be working on their EIGHT hours of required service for this third trimester.
