7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of October 8th

Posted on Oct 08, 2018

On Friday of this week, the Jr. High students will be taking the Aspire Interim Exams.  Although the results of these tests will not be a part of the students' report card grades, we are encouraging the students give their very best efforts with these tests, as the outcome of these tests will be used as assessments for academic goals and progress throughout the school year.

This week, we will be finishing chapter 3 in our Blest Are We textbook which discusses how our conscience is formed and it the important role it plays in moral decision making.  This chapter also discusses the various types of sin: original sin, personal sin, venial sin, and mortal sin.  We will also be discussing the cardinal virtues and how they also can be used as a guide to help us make good decisions in our daily lives.  The students will be completing an assignment that asks them to discuss special role models in their lives who best exemplify each of the Cardinal Virtues.  At the end of the week, we will be completing review exercises for chapter 3.  Please know that in the event students would like to review or finish class assignments, they are always welcome to check a Blest Are We book out at the end of the day.

*All students should continue to work on their FIVE hours of required service for this first trimester.

This week, we will be finishing up with chapter 3 in our Church History textbook and will be reviewing the ways Constantine the Great helped Christianity grow and flourish as Christianity recovered from the mass persecution of Christians ordered by his predecessor, Diocletian.  This chapter also discusses the four ecumenical councils and their contributions to our faith and the composition of the Creed, the statement of beliefs we recite together at mass each Sunday.  The Chapter 3 test is scheduled for this Friday.

*All students should continue to work on their EIGHT hours of required service for this first trimester.
