Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am looking forward to a unique and successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters, a son-in-law, and a new grandson, Martin McGrath Guinane.

This year will be my 21st year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past eleven years, watching my students grow both academically and spiritually.

7th and 8th Grade Religion-Week of January 14th

Posted on Jan 13, 2019

All students and parents should log onto Power School this Wednesday to check academic progress for this second trimester.  Parents, this is a good opportunity to assess efforts and accomplishments thus far in the trimester and offer words of praise for a job well done, or words of encouragement to improve efforts if needded.

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be completing the chapter review and study guide for chapter 6. This chapter discusses two of the seven sacraments that are considered to be vocations, Holy Matrimony and Holy Orders. The chapter 6 test will be this Thursday.

***All students should continue to work on their FIVE hours of required service for this second trimester.

*** 8th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be continuing on with our Confirmation preparation. We will be discussing elements that affect our decision making when demonstrating the Holy Spirit's gift of right judgement. We will be taking a test on the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit at the end of this week.

Students will also be given the assignment of creating a Google slides presentation about the saint whose name they have chosen for their Confirmation name.  An instruction sheet will be given to the students and the requirements for this project will be discussed in class.  Confirmation materials were passed out and discussed in class last Friday.  Please ask your son/daughter to share these materials with you if they have not done so already.

***All students should continue to work on their EIGHT hours of required service for this second trimester.
