Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am looking forward to a unique and successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters, a son-in-law, and a new grandson, Martin McGrath Guinane.

This year will be my 21st year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past eleven years, watching my students grow both academically and spiritually.

7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of Dec. 19th

Posted on Dec 20, 2016

Christmas is almost here and we can feel it in the air!  Wishing you and your family a beautiful Christmas and a happy and health New Year!

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, we will be winding up chapter 6 in Blest Are We.  This chapter discusses the sacraments of Holy Matrimony and Holy Orders.  This chapter also discusses the meaning of the term "vocation" and how we should all live our lives to serve Jesus and help the less fortunate in our society.  We will also be discussing the season of Christmas and how we should be preparing our hearts for the birth of Jesus.

*Students should continue to work on their 5 hours of required service for this second trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week, the eighth graders are busy preparing to host our Christmas prayer service which will take place on Friday, December 23rd, at 10:30.  We have already begun Confirmation preparation in class. Confirmation will be celebrated on Sunday, February 12th. Last Friday, the students were given the assignment of writing a five paragraph essay about their sponsor and the gifts of the Holy Spirit that are demonstrated by their sponsor.  This essay is due no later than Friday, December 23rd.  The students were given explicit instructions on the format and content of this essay.

*Students should continue to work on their 8 hours of required service for this second trimester.
