Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many of the parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters.

This year will be my 20th year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past ten years, watching our students grow both academically and spiritually.

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year with our Jr. High students and can't wait to see them on their first day of school, Wednesday, August 21st.

Last week, the chapter one tests were returned to the students.  We went over the corrected tests together and discussed the extended response questions.  We discussed the importance of using the SLAM method when writing their extended response question on both tests in the classroom as well as on standardized tests.  We will be finishing chapter two this week and will be working on the review and study guide. The students will also be instructed to write an article on the baptism of Jesus, using the accounts of the four gospel writers.  This article is due Wednesday.

*Students should continue to be working on their FIVE hours of required service for this first trimester.
