Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many of the parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters.

This year will be my 20th year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past ten years, watching our students grow both academically and spiritually.

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year with our Jr. High students and can't wait to see them on their first day of school, Wednesday, August 21st.

7th & 8th Religion

Parents and Students,

All Jr. High teachers are posting their blogs to the Jr. High Blog.  Please refer to this blog site for updates each week for my 7th & 8th grade religion class.  We have made this change so that it is easier for students and parents to check one blog site each week rather than six.  Thank you.

*** 7th Grade Religion***

This week we will be starting with chapter 3 in our Blest Are We book.  This Chapter discusses our conscience, how it is formed, and the important role our conscience plays in our every day decisions.  We will also be discussing the freedom given to us from God to make personal choices and the things in our life that guide us when making these choices..

***All Students should continue to work on their FIVE hours of required service for this first trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week we will be continuing on with chapter 3 in our Church History book.  This chapter discusses the four ecumenical councils and their contributions to Christianity.  We will be discussing the controversies and outcomes from each of the four councils as well as the history of the Nicene creed, statements of our Christian beliefs which originated from these councils.

Our test on Chapter 3 will be Thursday, Oct. 5th.

***All students should continue to work on their EIGHT hours of required service for this first trimester
