Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year.  We are all looking forward to a successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many of the parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters.

This year will be my 20th year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past ten years, watching our students grow both academically and spiritually.

I'm looking forward to an exciting school year with our Jr. High students and can't wait to see them on their first day of school, Wednesday, August 21st.

The eighth grade students will also be welcoming Father Tom McCarthy this Wednesday as he leads them on a retreat in preparation for their celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation.

It' s hard to believe, but we are quickly approaching the half-way mark of the first trimester. On Wednesday, Oct. 3rd, both parents and students are encouraged to log on to Power School and check students' updated academic progress thus far for the first trimester.  Parents, this  is a good opportunity to compliment your child's academic accomplishments as well as offer encouragement in areas where stronger efforts may be necessary.
