Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am looking forward to a unique and successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters, a son-in-law, and a new grandson, Martin McGrath Guinane.

This year will be my 21st year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past eleven years, watching my students grow both academically and spiritually.

I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather this past weekend...I sure did!  This long weekend was a great opportunity to take a break and recharge; allowing us all to continue the second half of this first trimester with our best efforts. Academic progress check for our students is this Wednesday, October 14th. Please log on to Power School and check your child's academic progress in each class. This is an opportune time to praise students' who are showing great efforts and accomplishments as well as good time to encourage those student's who may need to increase their efforts and work to their full academic ability.

7th & 8th Grade Religion-Week of October 5th

Posted on Oct 04, 2020

This week is spirt week! Although we won't be celebrating Homecoming this year with our usual Spirit Week, ending with a pep rally, we will be celebrating the week with various "out of uniform" themes during the week.

Although we won’t be playing the annual Homecoming
Football Game, we want to celebrate being a Falcon and
having the privilege of attending school in person.
SOAR will host a Falcon Spirit Week, starting October 5th.
This will be a week of out of uniform themed days:

Monday, October 5th: Roll Out of Bed Day- Come to
school in your pajamas!
Tuesday, October 6th: Our Futures Are Bright Day-
Wear something from the high school or college
you hope to attend or dress in the clothing from a
future career path.
Wednesday, October 7th: Sports Fan Day- Wear any
clothing supporting your favorite sports team.
Thursday, October 8th: Falcon Spirit Wear- Complete
Out of Uniform, dress in SJF gear!

As we are well into the swing of the new school year, it remains important that students write their homework assignments and test dates into their assignment notebooks. The assignment notebook is a necessary tool for success that should be used daily by all students as well as an additional tool that may also be used by parents.
