Mrs. Maura Grochocinski, Junior High Religion

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!  I am looking forward to a unique and successful school year with your child.

A little about myself: due to the difficulty in pronouncing my last name, I am known to the SJF students and to many parents as “Mrs. G.”  I live in Most Holy Redeemer parish and my husband and I have been blessed with three wonderful daughters, a son-in-law, and a new grandson, Martin McGrath Guinane.

This year will be my 21st year teaching at Saint John Fisher. I have taught different grades and various subjects throughout the years. I have enjoyed teaching religion in the Jr. High for the past eleven years, watching my students grow both academically and spiritually.

I hope everyone enjoyed both the beautiful weather and the extra day off from school this past weekend. This week, we will be celebrating both St. Patrick's day and St. Joseph's day by having our students wear a touch of green on Wednesday and a touch of red on Friday. The third trimester has officially begun! Please encourage your son/daughter to end this year with a strong finish by giving diligent efforts with all assignments, projects and tests for this third trimester.

***This Sunday, there will be a carry-out pancake breakfast, in Kane Hall, "Behind the Vest," dedicated to  raising funds for protective vests for the police force in our community.  Please see Mrs. Nash's Notes for details.

***7th Grade Religion***

This week, the Jr. High students will be writing letters of gratitude to police officers, thanking them for their continued service provided to our SJF community, keeping our neighborhood and streets safe. This week we will also be wrapping up our unit on Hinduism. The test for Hinduism is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday of next week. We will be doing assignments this week reinforcing the meaning of the many vocabulary words that were introduced in this unit.

***All students should continue to work on their FIVE hours of required service for this third and final trimester.

***8th Grade Religion***

This week, the Jr. High students will be writing letters of gratitude to police officers, thanking them for their continued service provided to our SJF community, keeping our neighborhood and streets safe. This week students will also be writing and illustrating "Lenten affirmations" stating the characteristics they hope to demonstrate as a student, friend, and son/daughter during this Lenten season and thereafter.

***All students should continue to work on their EIGHT hours of required service for this third and final trimester.
