Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of December21st

Posted on Dec 20, 2020

Welcome to the days before Christmas!!!  In reading we are going to continue our discussion of Neil Simon's play "The Governess"  Not only will we read it again, but we will see a performance of it as well.  In parts of a drama, I would like to point out some of the obvious ones.  In language we will review how to use complex sentences with subordinate conjunctions.  In writing, I hope to have everyone's copy of both their BIO poem, and their research on Christmas in another country.

My wish for all of you at Christmas time is to enjoy the family that you get to spend time with and relax and enjoy your time off!  ELearning will begin Janauary 6th through January 15th.  Monday, January 18th is the MLK holiday, so we will see everyone back in school on January 19th!!  Happy New Year, may it bring health and happiness to all:)

Welcome back to another week of in school learning!  This week in reading we are discussing our two poems.  One is happy and cheery and one is dark and depressing.  We are going to talk about all the elements of poetry.  In language, we will continue with poetry and put lots of rules in our interactive notebook.  We will discuss the MOOD of the poems, the RHYME scheme of the poems as well.  In writing, we are finishing up our research on  Christmas in another country, and we will start our literary ornament.

Welcome back to Trimester Two!  Now that we know what we have to work harder on, the game has changed.  I am expecting  quality work from each of the students for this trimester.

In reading, we are working on our folktale called "Two Legs or One?"  We will discuss what makes a folktale.  We will also work on the vocabulary and the story questions.  In language, we will continue to work with commas and how to use a glossary.  In writing, we are finishing up our Christmas in another country three paragraph essays.
