Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the new 7th grade Reading and Language teacher.  I have been a parishioner for twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the past, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of April 27th

Posted on Apr 27, 2020

Good Morning and welcome to the last week of April!  This week in ELA, we are going to continue with our short story, After Twenty Years by O. Henry and work on context clues and point of view. In vocabulary, we are going to tackle Unit 10 which is pages 131-135.  This unit, the story is about how our dentistry/orthodontics programs came about.  That means our writing focus this week will be a personal narrative about going to the dentist or orthodontist!  Don't forget that Progress Reports come out on Wednesday, April 29th.  Please make sure your homework is in by Tuesday.  Have a great week, and remember we are all in this together...

Just a friendly reminder that progress reports will go out next Wednesday, April 29th.  That means that you need to make sure you are up to date in your assignments.  Anyone who is not doing their best will hear from Mrs. Larmon.  We are all in this together, so I just thought I would give everyone a chance to be their best!

Week of April 20th

Happy Last Day of Easter Vacation! Tomorrow will start a new week of E Learning.  The Junior High will continue to use the block schedule.  In ELA, we will work with our new short story Twenty Years.  We will work on foreshadowing, and a plot pyramid.    In Language, we will work on interjections (Batman words).  Interjections allow you to put emotion into your sentences.  In writing, we will work on an Acrostic poem about Covid 19.  Enjoy your last moments  of leisure...

Wishing all of the Saint John Fisher community a very Happy Easter!  While the children have some time off from E Learning, it might be a good time to check power school to see if you are missing any work!  A lot of you seem to have forgotten that you have more than 5 teachers assigning you work.  Please take this time to catch up on missing work, so I can take those  zeroes away!

April 6th part two

Good morning again...Mrs. G just sent each of the Junior High teachers a message about an assignment she wants each of the children to do for Holy Thursday.  I have posted her notice on my classroom, but the instructions are on her classroom.  Please make sure you look and see what it is.

On another note...Mrs. Caffrey came over to my house and through proper social distancing, we made a movie about Corona, our lonely chick, for her preschoolers.  Billy (my wonderful son) made it into a utube video..search for 7th grade chick to see it...thanks

Week of April 6th

Posted on Apr 06, 2020

Good morning, and happy Monday!  As we begin another week of E Learning, let us all take a deep breath and know that we will get through this.  Our week is shortened due to Holy Week, so we will only do school work until Thursday.  In ELA we are going to do some sentences using correlative conjunctions which I will share  with you through classroom.  In Vocabulary, we will finish up the review unit with pages 122-125. In writing, you need to submit your Outsiders Essay tomorrow.  In reading, we will start our newest short story call After Twenty Years, by O. Henry.  Even though it is a short week, I still want you to be working and keeping your brain alive.  Some of you need to get on the ball and hand in your missing assignments, they are in as zeroes for now.

As Mrs. Nash has said, it is a new way of learning, but we can do it together!  Have a wonderful Holy Week and a beautiful Easter.
