Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Good Morning!  Welcome to another week of E Learning...We are coming close to the end of the trimester, so let's push hard and finish strong.  For those of you with missing assignments, please get them to me ASAP.

This week in reading we are going to finish up After Twenty Years with a comparison story by O.Henry and a test.  In language we are going to write sentences which show our knowledge of the four different types of sentences and the different parts of the sentence(subject, predicate).  In writing I am going to send you on a scavenger hunt in your house.  I will ask you to find (7) different items and then we will create our story around those things you found.

I know how difficult remote learning is, but stick with it and summer is right around the corner!!!

Good morning and welcome to a new week of ELearning!  This week in reading we are going to watch the film adaptation of After Twenty Years and do an activity comparing/contrasting what is similiar and what is different.  In vocabulary, we will work on Unit 11.  This story introduces us to a golf legend named Babe Zaharias.  We will write about what qualities made her stand out in the LPGA.  In language we are going to go back to the basics with sentences.  What are the four kinds of sentences and can you recreate them.

Good morning, I apologize for the delay in my post, but I was in Denver for my daughter Rosie's graduation!  This week in reading, we are going to work on characterization of our short story, After Twenty Years.  We will also work on a grammar Bellringer, and a puzzle.  To review, we are going back to the basics of what makes a sentence.  For writing, we will interview someone in the house regarding how life has changed since the lockdown of our lives.
