Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of February 1st

Posted on Jan 31, 2021

Welcome back from a very snowy weekend and right into Catholic Schools Week 2021!  We have lots of fun things planned for each and every day this week so make sure you look at Mrs. Nash's notes home.  In between all the fun, we will try to get some learning in...

In reading we will continue to read our novel "Peak".  In doing so we will continue to do our vocabulary and our questions, along with literary techniques that will help in our Formal Book Analysis.  For those of you who are not familiar with my Formal Book Analysis, I will send home notes about how we will do this and what is expected of the students. Until then, enjoy CSW 2021...

Welcome to Progress Report Week!  All of your work needs to be handed in before Wednesday if you want the credit.  There are a few of you that have quite a bit of missing work, so please get it to me.

This week in reading, we will continue to read our novel "Peak".  We will read into camp 2 and work with our new vocabulary and literary techniques. When we finish our novel, we will begin to work on our Formal Book Analysis which I will send reminders to parents so they will know what I expect from the students.

As we enter the second half of the trimester, let's continue to work hard and do our best!

Welcome back from our two weeks of virtual learning!  I don't know about you, but I am very excited to have all of you back in the classroom:)  Let's remember to follow all of the safety guidelines when you return.

In reading this week we will finish up our first story in Unit 3 called "Never Retreat".  We will also start our second novel called "Peak".  We will begin with our background knowledge so that  you understand where all of the story is taking place.  When we finish the novel, we will begin our big writing project called a formal book analysis.  We will go through the steps slowly and methodically so nobody will be left behind.

Welcome back from a very restful Christmas and New Year's break!  This Wednesday, January 6th will be your first day of remote learning.  You need to check in with your homeroom site at 8:00 A.M. for attendance and then check in with Senor for Spanish at your designated time.  We will meet on the google meet link on Thursday, 1/7 and Friday, 1/8 for class at the time on your schedule.  We will work on "The Governess" play both days.  We will also continue our Bellringers from Week 16, which we started before we went to break.  For language, we are going to work on Complex sentences using subordinate  conjunctions. We will also get back into working on Iready, which you will do on Wednesday, 1/6/21. Enjoy your last day off and I will check in with you tomorrow!
