Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Welcome back to March!  Time is flying by with so many things left to do...This week we will finish our second novel "Peak" by Wednesday, and then we will work on our formal book analysis.  Parents, you should have been given a letter to sign by your child,  stating that you have read the directions for our book analysis.  We will go through this slowly, but I expect each child to take home their note cards every night and turn that into a paragraph, then it won't haunt them at the end.  Second trimester also ends March 10th, so report cards will be here before you know it.

Welcome back to a full week of school!  This week we will continue on with our novel "Peak". We are almost finished, and will focus this week on dynamic/static characters, conflict, and protagonists.  All of these skills are going to help us write our formal book analysis.  Hopefully, we will get everyone caught up with our IReady testing.  We will go back to 45 minutes of reading/math in IReady.  That will also finish up the month of February, time is flying by.  I will send home the directions and the necessary paperwork for the formal book analysis this week.

Welcome back after Super Bowl Sunday and Catholic Schools Week!  Everyone must be very tired from all the excitement, but this week we need to work hard.  In reading, we will continue with our novel, "Peak" and work on cause/effect, personification, and making inferences.  As we continue through our novel, I am introducing the students to all of the different aspects of our formal book analysis.  So when it comes time to write our analysis, the students will have a better grip on it.
