Week of April26th

Posted on Apr 25, 2021

Well, we are getting through the month of April quickly!  This week we are going to continue reading our third novel, The Outsiders.  We have read through the first three chapters so far, and we will continue to read up to chapter six or seven this week.  We will work on vocabulary and comprehension questions along with a review of subject/verb agreement.  If we have time I would also like to review the four types of sentences(simple, complex, compound).  We need to continue to work hard even though the weather is getting better!

Welcome back after a very long first week back!  It is hard to get everything going again after a week of rest...But here we go!! This week we are going to finish up Unit 3 with our test on our lyric poems(odes) "Enchanted Light" and "Sleeping in the  Forest".  We are then going to choose one of the four independent reads to do a one pager on.  I am hoping to begin our last novel, S. E. Hinton's The Outsiders by Wednesday.  I hope everyone was able o find a copy of the book...With our novel, we will work on vocabulary and comprehension on a daily basis, also chapter quizzes when we finish up a chapter.  We will also work on a character project with the students once we have finished the book!  Along with the regular every day work, we will also work on our grammar skills with our novel.

Welcome back from Easter vacation.  I hope everyone had a chance to relax and go outside!  This week we will finish up our short story "Allied with Green" with context clues and then our test.  Then we will go back into poetry with an ode.  Odes are a form of lyric poetry and we will work with tone and voice.  Each of these will help us to understand how the author is showing the importance of nature.
