Week of October 21st

Posted on Oct 21, 2019

Good Morning and welcome back to a full week of school!  This week in reading we are using Rod Serling's Monsters Are Due on Maple Street as our short story.  We have already gone over the mood and the tone that Rod Serling masters, so now we will go back to the plot pyramid and put the pieces of the story together.  We will also have two quizzes this week on both vocab from the story and comprehension.  In language, still working with our sentence structure, we will play around with the difference between a fragment and a sentence and how we try not to use a run-on!  In writing we are working on our poem for the poetry contest, and writing a diary entry about the comings and goings in 1876 in New York City.

Just a reminder...Bus Evacuation Drill will be on Friday, 10/25 and our Lock Down Drill will take place on Tuesday, 10/22.  We will go over the routines here at school today, but please have a follow up discussion on the importance of following the teacher's instructions.  God willing we will never have to use these drills, but it is best to be prepared.  Thanks for your continued cooperation!
