Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the 7th grade ELA teacher.  I have been a parishioner for more than twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the area, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of October 28th

Posted on Oct 28, 2019

Happy Monday!  We have so much going on this week in the Junior High...In reading we are going to listen to the radio broadcast from long ago called "War of the Worlds".  This Halloween prank goes side by side with our short story "Monsters Are Due on Maple Street.  Both written by masters, to spook people out during the Halloween season. In language we are working with nouns this week.  We started with common and proper nouns which are pretty simple , and now we head into abstract and concrete.  These are a bit trickier because they involve the senses.  Can you feel or see this noun??  In writing, we are conjuring up our Halloween stories to go with the story starter!!!

This Tuesday, 10/29 we will be at the Saint Rita Retreat.  Children need to be in their school uniforms and bring a lunch.  Wednesday, 10/30 is an early dismissal at 1:45 because of a faculty meeting.  This is also SOAR's big day to entertain the school with Halloween activities.  Thursday, 10/31 is Part Two of High School Options for Junior High.  In between we will get some school work done:)
