Mrs.Carole Scannell Junior High Reading/Language - 7th

My name is Mrs. Carole Scannell and I am the new 7th grade Reading and Language teacher.  I have been a parishioner for twenty years, and been involved in a few church activities.  I have taught at a few different schools in the past, but look forward to my new adventure here at St. John Fisher.  My five children are all graduates of St. John Fisher which brings me great pride.

Week of October 7th

Posted on Oct 07, 2019

I hope everyone is enjoying this cooler weather...makes for great sleeping weather!  This week in reading we will finish our novel, A Long Walk to Water.  We will also finish up our Sudan project that goes along with our story.  We will watch the documentary that goes along with the story as well.  In language, we are working on the difference between a simple and compound sentence.  The use of conjunctions comes into play when you put two sentences together.  In writing, we are working on our "One-Pager" which goes along with the story A Long Walk to Water.  In our Vocabulary Workshop  we are at the Unit 1-3 Review, which will go over the 60 words we have studied so far...

I am sorry that I missed school last Thursday and Friday, but I was attending the Reading Conference in lovely Peoria, Illinois with thousands of  reading teachers from the state of Illinois.  I learned some interesting new ideas which I will implement in my classroom.  As the second half of the trimester begins, let's give it our all!  Thank you again for all of your support.
