Week of October 22nd

Happy Monday!!I hope everyone had a great weekend. I just wish the Bears would pull off one of these victories. Thank you to all who attended the commissioning mass yesterday. It was a beautiful ceremony. The boys and girls are very excited about making their 1st Communion this year. For the rest of the week, the info to know is as follows:

  • We are collecting money to raise for the Chicago Diabetes Project. If students bring in a $1 they are able to dress down on Friday

Math- We will continue working on Chapter 3; solving problems using related facts. We will have a short quiz on Tuesday. Please continue to practice addition/subtraction with your child. Being fluent in addition and subtraction problems will help the students be successful. Practicing flashcards at home, apps on the ipad or playing Math Magician online are just some examples of how to practice.

Spelling- The Spelling words for this week are as follows: some, done, does, come, live, been, give, said, head, have, why, animals, before, knew, and between.  If children use capital letters inappropriately, or write letters backwards, the word will be marked wrong. Homework on Monday is 4X each.

Reading- The students will be reading The Old Golywampus and Snakes. The students should read Snakes for homework on Wednesday. Every Friday, the kids will take a vocabulary/comprehension quiz that I will take for a grade out of 10 points. Don’t forget that students must have passed 4 AR quizzes for this month. This will be the last week for their October grade. I will be taking a grade for AR.  If students pass 4 or more, they will earn 40/40. If they pass only 3 quizzes, they will have 30/40 for the month, and so on.

Religion- We be starting Chapter 5; Asking God for Forgiveness.

Language Arts- We will be reviewing for our test on Nouns which will be on Thursday. Study guide will go home Tuesday.

Social Studies-In social studies we will discuss where Native Americans lived, how they built their shelters and survived.  We will also compare similarities and differences among families in different communities

Please feel free to email me kade@sjfschool.net with any questions. If at anytime anyone needs extra help please let me know I am here early in the morning. Looking forward to a great week ahead
