Week of January 14th
I hope you had a great weekend and were able to enjoy the snow we got. I guess we can finally say winter is here. If your child wears boots to school, remember to pack their shoes in their book bag so we can keep the classroom floors dry. For the rest of the week, the info to know is as follows:
Math- We will be finishing Chapter 5 today and we will be having a test on Thursday. Study guide will go home Tuesday and Wednesday. Please continue to practice addition/subtraction with your child. Being fluent in addition and subtraction problems will help the students be successful. Practicing flashcards at home, apps on the ipad or playing Math Reflex online are just some examples of how to practice.
Spelling- The Spelling words for this week are as follows: fly, clean, sleep, free, grade, drive, train, tree, please, slow, ago, better, head, idea, and still. If children use capital letters inappropriately, or write letters backwards, the word will be marked wrong. Homework on Monday is 4X each.
Reading- The students will be reading Hear the Cheers and The Great Ball Game. The students should read The Great Ball Game for homework on Wednesday. Every Friday, the kids will take a vocabulary/comprehension quiz that I will take for a grade out of 10 points. The students need to have taken and passed 4 AR tests by the end of January.
Religion- We be working on preparing for the sacrament of Reconciliation. The date for First Reconciliation is February 27th, 2019 at 6:30 pm.
Language Arts- We will be continuing our unit on Verbs.
Social Studies- We will be finishing Unit 3 today and will have a test on Wednesday. The study guide will go home tonight.
