The children are to bring in 2 two-pocket folders. Your child’s folder will be sent home each day. All school mail and your child’s papers will come home in this folder. It may be empty at times, but please check it each day and return it the next. Also, if you have any mail to send to us or the office please put it in the folder as we will check the folders daily.
We will be sending home monthly letters to inform you about what is planned for each month. The letters will list the skills that we will be covering for each subject area. You can work with your child at home by reviewing the letters/sounds, word wall words, and/or Math skills for that month.
READING : *Reading to your child is very important. So, please have someone in your family try to set aside ten minutes each night to read to them- big brothers and sisters can be a great help with this! The children will be bringing home small black and white printed paper booklets (usually twice a week). The booklets have been covered in class BUT the children NEED to read these aloud at home. Please sign the front title page, after your child has read to you, and return these books the following day. Your child’s name will be checked off and then the booklet will be sent home for you to keep. ALSO, PLEASE make flash cards of our word wall words and practice these each night …. A WWW list will be sent home with your child and will have instructions on how to make these. The words are grouped according to the months they will be introduced,
MATH : Math sheets that reinforce skills covered in class will be sent home FREQUENTLY for homework and should be returned the following day. These homework pages reinforce the skills that were covered in class that day.
Your children are God’s most precious gift and we want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to get to know each and every one of them. We will do our very best to make our classrooms the next best thing to home. We are looking forward to a wonderful year! Please feel free to reach out to any of us at any time.
