Notes from Mrs. Nash March 1 2019

Dear SJF Families,

Thank you so much for the incredible outpouring of support that you showed for the “Get Behind the Vest” pancake breakfast. There were so many parents, students, teachers and staff who not only were patrons at the event but volunteered their time as well. This incredible cause was extremely successful as a result of all of you. What an amazing community we live in!

This week I was able to witness our reverent second grade students experience their First Reconciliation. This evening was filled with peace, grace and a calming energy that infused throughout the Church as these young children participated in their second sacrament. Dr. Chermak, along with the help of Fr. Ken, Fr. Dan, Mrs. Ade, Mrs. Kellam, Ms. Broncato and Mrs. Connolly did such a beautiful job preparing our students and planning this evening. We truly felt God’s love, grace and presence.

Congratulations to the many sports teams that are still alive during play-off season! On the following pages, you can peruse their schedules for the weekend. This upcoming Sunday, at our 10am Mass, we will be celebrating our grandparents and supporting our girl scouts. Please bring your grandma, grandpa or special person in your life to recognize how “lucky” you are to have them.

Next week will be a busy one as we celebrate Mardi Gras, prepare for Lent and Ash Wednesday and support the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser. Tuesday of next week SJF will be celebrating Fat Tuesday and Mardi Gras with a dress down day and a dance-a-thon in the gym. Students may wear Mardi Gras themed colors to school such as gold, green or purple. Our all-school Ash Wednesday mass is March 6th at 1pm. All are welcome! To thank students for their generosity in supporting or participating in St. Baldrick’s, students may also be out of uniform on Friday, March 8th. Donations collected that day will go directly to the St. Baldrick’s fundraiser taking place Saturday, March 9th at SJF. Attached to the notes, you will also find information on when and where you can purchase SJF St. Paddy’s Day/St. Baldrick’s spirit wear, if interested.

As always, I am incredibly grateful for your generosity and your continued support of Catholic education.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Maura Nash
